This lovely little restaurant has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat at in Iwakuni! I first heard about it over a year ago, but I didn’t try it out until a couple of months ago. Now I am hooked! I would go every day for lunch if I could.

The food is delicious and I really enjoy the atmosphere. It’s a cozy place that never feels crowded to me. Even when they are completely full, which happens a lot.

Now let’s talk food! I have had lunch here a few times now and they change their menu daily, but everything I have ever eaten here has been so good! They use fresh ingredients and the flavors are always perfect.

I ordered the ginger drink and it was delicious! It’s a honey drink so it’s a little bit sweet and so refreshing! These drinks come in different flavors and you have a choice of hot or cold. I can’t wait to order a hot one when it gets cooler!

If you order the mameka lunch, you get the items in the deli plate plus your choice of a main dish. This is where the choices are written –

Typically, you get to choose between a meat dish or a fish dish. This is what comes with the mameka lunch –

That day’s deli offerings. The carrots with oranges were so delicious!!

The fish was lightly battered and fried, and then covered in an amazing sweet and sour sauce. I’ll be honest. I wanted more. Even though it was plenty because rice and miso soup were also included. I just wanted to keep eating it because it tasted so good.  The mameka lunch also includes a drink.

Even if you are kind of full at this point, I highly recommend dessert. Did you see the waffles at the top of this post?? Dessert. Well, one of the desserts. The parfaits are really good too.

There’s always room for dessert, right?

mameka? is closed on Wednesdays and even though they don’t require reservations, I highly recommend making reservations. The last time I went, every table had a “reserved” sign on it. Luckily I was able to snag two seats at the counter, but even that filled up just a few minutes after I got there.

The mameka lunch is also available for take out.

mameka? is located just a few minutes away from the Monzen gate by car. Go out of the Monzen gate and turn left onto the main road. Follow the road until it pretty much comes to an end. It doesn’t really come to an end, but it leads to a complex of warehouses and some other buildings. To some people it might even look off limits, but it’s not. As soon as you enter the complex, turn left. mameka? will be on your left and parking will be on your right.
